Otto Puempel, D.O.

Dr Otto Puempel began practicing Family Medicine in a small office in central Arlington in 1963. He quickly saw a need in the medical field that had yet to be explored and streamlined his focus and commitment into the specialty of Obesity Medicine, also often called Bariatrics. Dr. Puempel has a passion for helping patients return to healthy living and remarks often that his patients teach him far more than he teaches them and enjoys visiting with some who still drop by just to catch up. Dr. Puempel soon realized there were more patients who needed help than he had time to give, so he expanded into a multi-site clinic with numerous physicians and practitioners to further the practice. Today, his son, Christopher Puempel, MD joins him in providing a safe, nurturing atmosphere for patients to get the assistance they need while continuously researching and exploring the latest treatment protocols and therapies to best meet the individual need of the patient.

Dr. Chris Puempel, MD

After completion of my Family Medicine Residency at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas in 2005, I
joined my father in medical practice here at Physicians Weight Control and Wellness. I am
board certified in both Bariatric Medicine and Anti-Aging medicine. I am committed to continuing
the standard that has been set by Dr Otto of compassionate, individualized care. It is my belief
that true health and best quality of life is a balance of physical, mental, and spiritual health. I
strive to incorporate that belief in my patient care and counseling.

Lindsey Britten MPAS,PA-C

As a ballet dancer growing up, I developed a strong interest in nutrition and healthy living, as I had to stay in top shape. Therefore, I decided to pursue a degree in nutrition science and dietetics. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, I attended Physician Assistant school in hopes of incorporating more nutrition based treatments in medical practice. Fortunately, almost 4 years ago, I found my way to PWCWC and have greatly enjoyed leading patients into living more healthful lifestyles. I have also been certified in Botox and facial fillers, helping our patients complete the transformation. I truly believe that a healthy outside starts from the inside.

Amy Johnson

Facility Manager
I have managed the Physician Weight Control clinics for over 30 years and have witnessed the practice grow from a small, “one Doctor, one girl” operation into a three office, multi-practitioner company. The beauty of the evolution is that even as the practice expanded and staff was added, the principle philosophy of Dr. Otto Puempel remained, that of treating the patients and staff with respect and compassion. His passion for his bariatric specialty is contagious and he has, by example, directed the atmosphere of the clinics to remain that rare medical facility where one can go and still feel like there is a Doctor who listens, understands, and finds innovative solutions for each patient individually. I have been fortunate to be the team member who facilitates the logistics of operating and maintaining this medical clinic to ensure our patients a safe and successful experience.

Marty Brooks

Office Manager
I have worked for Physician’s Weight Control and Wellness for 27 years. I worked as a bariatric assistant for 6 years and I have been an office manager for the last 21 years. I currently manage the Waco and Dallas offices. While working with patients, I developed a passion for what we do and a love for this company. I am very blessed to manage such an inspiring group of girls who love their patients and love what they do.

Receptionist / Office Assistant
My name is Kathy and I’m a bilingual office assistant. I have been working here since 2015 with many more years to come. I love working for Physician’s Weight Control. It’s like a family here. I love working with my coworkers and having one on one interaction with the patients.

Bariatric Assistant
I’ve been with Physicans weight control for 13 years. I love working for Dr. Puempel, they are like a second family. My co workers, my office manager Marty and our P.A. Lindsey make coming to work everyday such a blessing. The most rewarding thing about my job is the interaction with our patients, and how rewarding it is to see the transformation with their weight loss.

As an Air Force family member, I worked 27 years working for the Air Force and CDC. Upon returning to Texas, I enrolled and graduated as an Accredited Medical Assistant in 2008, earning my RCMA in 2009. I worked in Home Health, before becoming a part of the Dallas Physician's Weight and Wellness family.

Working in the medical field was always my dream. I enjoy working one on one with patients as they are achieving their self improvement. I like to learn new things and I will never turn down a challenge no matter the circumstances. I will always try to handle any situation that will come my way. My career is my everything and I am here to grow and here to impact every patient.
